I was wondering what LOs think about non-compete agreements with real estate agents. I can remember a couple of times I initially liked an agent, but then when I got to know them, I really didn't like their personality or methods. It's one of those things where they made a good first impression, but then is was downhill from there. Do you have any opinion about these agreements?

Around here most everyone prefers to have a contract that you sign, but you can get out of it. It makes it a bit more official, but as long as you go back to your agent and say 'sorry, I don't want to work with you anymore' then you're ok.

Personally I wouldn't want to lock in anyone like that. What happens in the long run? If they don't like you (or an agent, or any other person in a position like that) they're just going to hate the experience and it's going to hurt you more in the long run.
