As we continue to try to find affordable living inside the city, condos seem to be a possible option. But so far, the price might be low, but then the association fees end up being an additional $200-500 per month. It seems like the value isn't so good. Are there any tricks to finding a good deal on a condo?
(oh, and I also heard that sometimes the association fee can be dramatically raised without your consent. For example, the Association gets sued for damages) |

One reason I wouldn't live in a subdivision! I already have to go before a civic group of I want to do anything outside of the scope that our normal city planning area needs reviewed. My MIL lives in a condo-free standing, and the association ran out of money for mulch, and then roofing after three hailstorms! (We bought her mulch, and she bought new plants) Her monthly fee's aren't that high, but it doesn't take much to run the association check book into the red, when you have "Green areas", playgrounds, lamp lights, pools, ect. That stuff does cost to maintain! I guess the hint-clue would be, look at all the nice things this subdivision has.....
You're gonna pay for it. |
