Is money tight? Wanting to get the most out of your tiny apartment and still be comfortable? Well here are some ideas that will help you get the most out of your tiny space and save money while you're at it. Let us start room by room.
Bedroom:
Remember when you were younger and wanted to hide things from your parents or make your room look cleaner faster so you could get some playtime in with your friends? Well this idea will give a whole new feel to putting stuff under the
bed.
Take your bed to new heights with bed risers. You can find these for $10 at Target; they are sturdy and can be stacked to raise your bed higher. If your closet is about to burst at the seam then under bed storage boxes can become your closets new best friend. These can be found at Wal-Mart for $13 they even come with a label slot so you can separate your seasonal clothing.
Do you have a whole bunch of sheet sets and blankets? I am sure that you have seen those infomercials for space saver bags, the ones where all you have to do is suck the excess air out with a vacuum. They are great for saving space and storing underneath the bed without taking up any space at all. These can be found at Bed Bath and Beyond for $20.
Closet:
Have yet to see the floor of your closet? Some ideas you may want to look into to make your closet more user friendly, ad get those shoes more organized so that you won't be embarrassed when you show up to work with mismatched shoes. Over the door shoe racks can typically run you around $25 at Target and hold 34 pairs of shoes. Some over the door hangers even have an area on the bottom to put shoe boxes. If you have children they also make them in smaller sizes.
Kitchen & Bath
Stuck with a small kitchen and bath with little to no cabinet space? Well there is one place that is one of the most unused place in your apartment, under the sink. You don't need any special kind of equipment because there is nothing to install you can go to the dollar store and get those little plastic baskets that come in a variety of colors. In the kitchen they can hold the cleaning supplies and bottles and in the bathroom they can hold those extra soaps and shampoos.
You can keep the countertops in your kitchen clutter-free with a few tips and tricks. Do you have any old jars that you are going to throw away from spaghetti night? Hold on to them they make a nifty little utensil holder for next to the stove (clean them out first of course).
Home Office
Area
Missing important documents? Or unable to find a paperclip of pen when you need it? If you have any old spice jars don't get rid of them, reuse them. These are great for getting those paper clips or push pins out the bottom of your drawer.
Get a desktop organizer that can easily sit on top of the desk or counter some even come with places to keep them easily labeled. This is a good idea if you want to keep track of mail coming in and bills going out. You can find these at stores like Wal-mart and Target for around $10.
With some of these space saving ideas, it will not only save you money but some much needed sanity. |

There's some useful stuff in there.
You can also get the space saver bags from Walgreens pretty cheap, probably cheaper than at BB&B.
If you do save those spaghetti sauce jars make sure you are saving them for a reason. A lot of people get caught up in the "I can organize stuff in this" mentality and end up sucking up space with empty jars, cans and bottles that they never actually utilize.
If your kids have a lot of toys to organize and are at an age where their clothes don't really go in the closet, get some 4 shelf bookcases to put in there and then some sterilite plastic storage tubs with removable lids. You can label the tubs for certain toys and assign them a place on the shelves - using the lids is optional.
When your tot gets older they can still use the book shelves and storage containers which isn't something you can say about toy boxes or special toddler oriented storage units. |
