I am in the process of buying a home directly from the seller. My bank suggests going to an attorney to have them complete the buyer/seller paperwork. What does it usually cost for this?

It will cost at least $750. Here is a list of all closing costs that you should expect to pay... CLOSING COSTS

ELMIRA (I assume NY) raises an interesting question even though her main purpose is to troll for link attachment.

Eric, obviously you’re in state where the lawyer lobby has intruded. Praise the Lord, my state does not mandate an attorney; they typically only screw things up. But still in the lobby states, how is the new GFE going to affect things? Even if a “list” provider, isn’t an attorney bound by ethical standards to pursue more cost to protect a buyers’ interest? Could, if a list attorney, mean heavy cost for the lender!

I am actually in favor of using an attorney to review the contract during a real estate transaction but not for a refinance. It is not mandatory here in NJ but it is something that is customary. I speak to people all over the US in states where attorneys are never used. They often find themselves buying a property and getting screwed by the seller or the realtor involved.

What state are you in? Are you a loan officer? I am actually looking to partner with someone outside of my area. send me an e-mail at eric@dreamhomefinancing.com
