Make sure all the advisers mortgage company introduce to hold an independent status and can offer you whole of market access / advice, reviewing the whole of the mortgage market place before making any recommendations...

When I was shopping for my mortgage I was looking at these specialists and found that, in the end, all they wanted was my money - just like the bank. The help they offered was readily found online.

Your home is a financial investment - perhaps the largest you will ever make. When you have bad credit, a wide range of loan opportunities is the only way to ensure you find the right mortgage.

Are you knowledgeable about your own credit?
Order a credit report for yourself. Look for any errors or inconsistencies and have them fixed immediately. In the case of small blemishes, work on making your situation more positive so that when you apply for the mortgage, you are applying with the best possible scenario. |

when looking for a mortgage, it is important to have a clear picture of your future as well as what the mortgage offers. You must understand what you need from the mortgage and whether the mortgage suits that purpose.

I'd actually recommend people just shop around for the best deal. Don't go nuts but at least get a few quotes, and be sure to pay attention to not just the interest rate, but the whole package. Compare closing costs, rate, and loan program. I'd also recommend searching online for reviews of the company you like most, to make sure they have a good reputation.
