I keep seeing headlines about mortgage foreclosures. How many months is a mortgage normally late before foreclosure begins? I can't figure out why the lenders cant do something, like modify the loan or something to keep this from happening. It's kind of scary that all this is happening. Sometimes people just have financial issues, seems like if they worked with the home owner for a lower monthly payment it would be better than foreclosure, right?
