I realize this is a mortgage forum and I did do a search for the subject topic but many results came up although none with the same title.

Have you guys heard of him and the seminars he offers? He has a website but you know how to find it so I'm not posting a link.

Cost for a local class, 2 hour class time every Sunday for 13 weeks is $95.

I am considering taking it and bringing along husband and 17 yr old daughter so she'll learn how NOT to live life before she moves out next year for college.

We have been in and out of debt, been through a bankruptcy in 1999, back in debt again, out again, in again and are headed for trouble if I don't get some help/advice although I will never do another bankruptcy.

Comments or suggestions? Is it worth it or is it just a joke?

Kathy

Dave Ramsey is awesome. I have not been to the seminars but I have read his books and listened to his radio show for a while. Luckily I caught his teachings while I was young and was able to get out of my debt fairly quickly. Even so, I still try to listen to him any time I can. I eat lunch in my car sometimes and listen even though I know everything he's going say. I just enjoy the message.

Like I said, I can't vouch for the seminars but $95 sounds like a bargain for that much info.

I haven't attended the course but will endorse Dave Ramsey nonetheless. He is a man of his word. For another faith-based course on financial stewardship you may want to google search crown ministries and see if there is a church in your area offering this bible study about bibilcal financial principles.

I really want to resurrect this post. Dave Ramsey is wonderful and we are now following his plan. We have had his book for quite a few years and have followed him - to an extent. For it to work you need to follow his baby steps and you won't be sorry! We are diving head first in 2010 and hope to see so much difference!

Once following him you will be looked at as "weird". Why pass up that vacation to Disney World just because you can't afford it? 'weirdd'. It's a change of life!

No debt is the way to be! Can't wait to scream "were debt free!"

I've heard Dave's name mentioned in a lot of places on a variety of topics. Can anyone just give a super brief summary of what he's about? Judging by what Sahm said, I should probably just look it up myself but I rather have a ball park idea of what he talks about before investing the time in reading his material.
