I am having a tough time right now and really need to get my home refinanced, but have some bad spots on my credit due to about 6 months out of work.
I am back on track now, but cant get financing with my current credit scores. I have heard about credit repair, but am not sure if it works. Can someone give advice?

Get things paid off and settled, showing correctly on your report, and have a positive history for 12 months. If you can't get much in the way of credit, apply for a loan that will allow you to use alternative trades, like FHA.

I nuked your link so that it wasn't so much of an ad...

I'd have to agree, get things paid off, preferably the highest interest debt first (sorry if I'm being elementary/obvious). Keep a positive history, maybe buy things you have cash for on credit and pay them off ASAP.

Numerous obvious things comes to mind but Haplo has the right idea.

Not rock science :-P

I agree, make payments on time and the negatives will hurt less over time. You can also try speaking to your lenders that reported you late to see if they will remove the lates.

Most of the time they won't but every once in a while you will find someone that will and it can help tremendously.
