Since I can't imagine any little boy or girl telling their parents that they want to grow up to be a mortgage dude or dudette, how'd you end up here?
Personally, I was asked by a friend to give it a try after they had been in the biz about 6 months. Actually after 3 months, it just took me 3 months more to make up my mind.
I was a land surveyor prior to this and it helped quite a bit. I was able to apply much of the knowledge I had, to solving problem loans and I already had a terrific idea of property values in my general area. Knew the neighborhoods pretty well too. |

| I heard it was better than selling used cars so I gave it a shot. |

| I sort of stumbled backward into it. I left the car lot (imagine that), then accepted a job offer from a guy at a career fair. I said "what the hell, I've sold everything else". So here I am. |

| Friend said 'hey, you should try this'. Got turned down by the boss, friend went to boss said 'wtf do you think you're doing???' boss changed mind, I left company 6mo later (cuz company had 'issues') and then I landed here because a friend said something nice about me. I don't know why, but she did. |

I was working the back end of servicing at a compay that got swollowed up by Greentree financial. (now dead) and it ended up getting bought by Conseco on the closing table with Greentree's merge with us.
I called my loan originator who was a branch manager of a company that is closing now. (wow, company closings seem like a SOP to me-don't they? oh well, there's another lender around the corner.....) Anyway, he hired me as a LO. |

| I was working at TransUnion way back when full residential mortgage credit reports were required on every file. I was processing those, verifing mortgage history, employment, credit etc., then I decided to take a continuing ed course called "Certified Mortgage Loan Officer" and found in that class how underpaid I was for what I was doing. I got on with a now defunked wholesale lender as a processor making twice as much. Discovered that I either love this business or am a glutton for punishment. I can't imagine doing anything else. The rest is history. |

I don't know how much longer I will be in this business. I would just LOVE to see a loan go through without a deal-breaker problem.
I am having a really crappy day, and there's a lot left of it. |

Remember my old plow mule?
Don't try to plow the entire field. It’s an overwhelming task. Don’t look for one big success. Just solve your problems one “furrow” at a time and enjoy several small victories each day.
I guarantee, after a few years of living the “incremental success philosophy”, all those “little” successes will add up to the big one you’re looking for. |

Truer words were never typed.
Every year I decide that I'm just going to "one foot in front of the other" or Just handle each issue as it comes up-ends up being a good year.
You can't be everything to everyone. Do one or a few things and do them well. :P |
