For investment properties, is it worth it to find a realtor who can help you through the process of many property purchases over the course of a decade? Or are you better of spending the time looking, learning, and coordinating to find and get a property?

What questions should you ask a realtor to find out if they fit the bill and understand your purposes? Should I just be stopping to visit in all the local realtor offices, looking through advertisments, or relying on a word-of-mouth referral of a realtor by a friend?

Well, it depends on your ability to research the information desired.

You're not paying for a realtor as a buyer, however they are generally only looking at properties in MLS. SOme of these may be worth it, but most aren't going to be the 'diamond in the rough' properties you want.

If there was a FSBO however then you would most likely end up paying the realtor (in one way or another.)

There are a lot of 'it depends' scenarios that you'd have to think about.
