Last month HUD started an ad campaign in some publications to assist lenders in advertising FHA programs. They will continue to advertise the FHA programs to assist lenders with advertising the FHA programs to the public and raise the awareness of FHA programs.
FHA does not write loans. If a consumer calls in, they are told to seek a loan officer, or if they are looking for grant money as a way to get down payment assistance, they are referred to the city or state housing grant programs that are listed in the blue pages of the phone book, or linked off the HUD.Gov website. We also get plenty of calls from landlords who are seeking approval for section 8 renters. One of the other common calls we get are the Teacher, Firefighter, and Officer next door programs. We inform them of what the guidelines are, and show them how to find the properties on the HUD.Gov website.
(If you are a member of the lending community we will start assisting you with program questions on 4/1/06. You can still use our phone number but pick option 2)
If you are a future homeowner and would like to learn more about FHA programs that may help you buy a home-call us!
Our phone number is 1-800-Call FHA |
